Paul Lee Won’t Play For Gilas Pilipinas, Injury Issues
The Rain or Shine guard Paul Lee is not playing for the Gilas Pilipinas team for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July because of injury.
In a report in GMA News, Lee is currently on the process of healing his aching knee that he attained before the PBA Season. The report said that Paul Lee attended that practice of the National team to let Gilas Head coach Tab Baldwin know of his situation.
“Malungkot para sa akin lalo na dito gagawin sa atin ‘yung laro. Medyo masakit para sa akin na mag-skip ako ngayon,” said Lee as quoted in the article.
[I am saddened knowing that the game (Olympic qualifiers) will be held here. It hurts me a bit that I’ll be skipping it this time.]
Lee said in the report that he will undergo a “plasma treatment” to repair his torn knee. He also needs to rest for five to six weeks for full recovery.
Knowing that the “Lethal Weapon” Lee’s contribution for the Gilas Pilipinas, Coach Baldwin calls it a “misfortune” for them. But, he pointed out that the Gilas needs to move on and continue the preparations.
There’s nothing we can do about it. We just wish him the best. He’s a fallen brother and we hope he gets back on his feet as soon as possible,” Baldwin said.
Still, even with the absence of Lee, combo guards including Jayson Castro, LA Tenorio, Terrence Romeo, Kiefer Ravena, Jeff Chan, and Marcio Lassiter are still in the team.
The practice sessions of the Gilas Pilipinas team is currently on-going.
