Metro Manila motorists particulary those who were plying the routes of Commonwealth Ave. experienced heavy traffic after some portion of the renowned thoroughfares was closed to traffic due to the Iglesia Ni Cristo Medical and Dental Mission. The INC event is held every year by one of the country’s largest religious group.
According to Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) they have implemented a traffic rerouting scheme between Sandiganbayan and Litex Road in Quezon City.
MMDA also issued a traffic advisory informing all motorists that from 12 midnight of May 17 to 12 midnight of May 18, the stretche of Sandiganbayan and Litex Road in Quezon City would be closed to traffic due to an INC event.
The agency in-charge of all traffic in Metro Manila, MMDA said all vehicles going to Fairview should turn right at Sandiganbayan and exit on Litex Road. The agency said a counterflow lane was opened on the southbound side of the road for public utility vehicles.
The Medical and Dental Mission of the INC involves giving away free clothes, shoes and provide medical and dental services for its “Lingap sa Mamamayan event.” The INC Headquarters or the Central Temple of Iglesia Ni Cristo is located along Commonwealth and Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City.
