NPA Rebellion Might End With Duterte Win, Sison Says

NPA Rebellion Might End With Duterte Win

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria Sison expressed his hopes about the peace that can be attained on presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte’s six-year term with NPA.

npa ceasefire

In a report in ABS-CBN, Jose Maria Sison is open to a “mutual ceasefire” with the government as a move of goodwill to bring back the peace negotiations.

Sison would also be returning to Manila together with his long-time revolutionary friend, Luis Jalandoni. Jalandoni is the chairman of the National Democratic Front peace negotiating panel.

The CPP founder even said in the report that he has an advance team in Manila that will push for a mutual ceasefire which is said to be done in just two weeks to a month.

It is expected to be outlined in a one-page document.

Sison insisted that this is not a fraud and he believes that Duterte can release 560 political prisoners who were mostly sick.

It is known that Duterte, together with the NPA rebels have been releasing captives.

He also admitted that his group is no longer holding any police or military prisoners and if they still have, they will be released with his order.

But, the only concern of Sison in returning home after three-decades in The Netherlands is the “unwieldy elements” in the country that could lead him to danger.

Meanwhile, the report says that the biggest challenge for the incoming Duterte administration as of now is the implementation of real economic, political, and social reforms.

Will the NPA really have a mutual ceasefire with the administration of the coming president Rodrigo Duterte?

What would might happen to the Philippines if this happens?
