The incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines Mayor Rody Duterte of Davao City will impose some austerity measures once he will start his work as chief executive of the country as he wanted all public officials under his administration to stop using luxury vehicles. According to the transition team of Mayor Duterte, the mayor wanted to end the usual luxury vehicle service of government officials.

The Duterte administration plans to push for austerity in the national government, particularly in the type of government vehicles used by the officials. The statement was released by Mayor Duterte’s executive assistant Bong Go.
CNN Philippines confirmed the news to their fellow media outlets after reporter Ina Andolong tweeted the following message of the mayor’s executive assistant: “Go says no luxury cars for public officials once Duterte is president. In Davao he says officials have Crosswinds and Avanzas,”
The presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte, has been spotted riding a black Izusu pick-up in his hometown, but when he starts his work in Malacañang, Duterte will have access to the presidential car – a black bulletproof Mercedes Benz with a license plate bearing number 1.
The executive assistant of Mayor Rody Duterte explained that the mayor wanted to set an example that public office does not mean indulging in luxury creature comforts. In Davao City where the mayor served for more than 20 years, Mayor Duterte even drives a taxi to peronally check on the safety of his constituents.
