Remulla Clan Drops VP Binay Supports Mayor Duterte in Cavite

The Remulla clan of the province of Cavite drops their support to Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay and listened to the clamor of the people by throwing their support to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the May 2016 national elections. Gubernatorial candidate and Cavite Rep. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla confirmed reports that his family along with several Cavite officials supports the presidential bid of Mayor Duterte.

According to one of the member of the powerful Remulla clan in Cavite, they already dropped their support to the presidential bid of VP Binay and supported Mayro Duterte whom Boying Remulla noted that he could “win big” in the vote-rich province of Cavite.

Rep. Boying Remulla is the older brother of incumbent Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla, he said that the decision to jump ship from Binay’s camp was made during the last three weeks, with “many people from the ground talking to us.”

The Remulla clan which is considered as the reigning political families in Cavite province, revealed to the media that they already met with Mayor Duterte in a closed-door luncheon in Pasay City. Mayor Duterte also noted earlier that an alliance had been forged between him and the powerful political clans of the Remullas in the province with more than 1.84 million registered voters.

Aside from the Remulla family in Cavite Province, 18 mayors and local officials from Cavite. “Eighteen of 23 (Cavite) mayors were there,” Boying said in a telephone interview.

Absent during the meeting were officials from Carmona town and the cities of Tagaytay, Imus, Dasmariñas and Bacoor. But of the five absent, the mayors from two key cities—Agnes Tolentino of Tagaytay City and Strike Revilla of Bacoor City—were supporting Duterte as well, Boying said.
