Former first lady Imelda Marcos campaigned for her son, Senator BongBong Marcos Jr.
With around 1,500 people in front of her, Imelda Marcos, the wife of the late dictator Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., campaigned for her son Senator Ferdinand ‘BongBong’ Marcos Jr. at the Remedios Trinidad Romualdez gymnasium in downtown Tacloban.
According to Imelda Marcos in her campaign speech for her son BongBong, the Philippines will be great again if they will vote for Senator BongBong Marcos Jr. to be the next vice president of the country.
Further, she reiterated to the Ilocano-speaking region and the Warays of Eastern Visayas that our nation should come us one in order for it to be great again. She even stressed that unity is the advocacy of her son BongBong.
During the event, Senator BongBong Marcos Jr., the vice presidential aspirant, Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Tacloban candidate for mayor Cristina Romualdez, and congress aspirant Yedda Romualdez were also there on stage with the former first lady of the country.
Imelda also glanced back on her family’s sufferings in the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution which ousted them. In her 15-minute speech, she narrated how they were kidnapped and was brought to Hawaii.
Expressing his thanks as he was able to reach Leyte, BongBong also gave his speech. He considers the place his home and affirmed his joy that the people are receptive of his advocacies and platforms in the upcoming election.
He also expressed his statement against the division caused by the election. He stressed that the people should be united in this rather than divided.
