The leading presidential candidate in various nationwide surveys by various organizations, Mayor Duterte visited the city of Iloilo, a city claimed by other presidential candidates as their bailiwick. Thousands of volunteer supporters of Mayor Duterte came out and showed their support for the country’s next president but it was not reported on national TV.
Most of the national media only reported the controversy of Mayor Duterte’s viral joke but nobody reported how he was welcomed by the majority of the Ilonggos in Iloilo City. Some print media in the Philippines reported about his visit to Iloilo but the highlight was his apology for the controversial statement.
During Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s visit in Iloilo City, he attended a forum at the University of the Philippines Visayas-Iloilo City campus and also proceeded to the Duterte-Cayetano grand rally at La Paz public plaza.
The 71-year-old local chief executive of Davao City also apologized for his recent remarks but stressed he will never asked forgiveness for the things he did in protecting people against crime. The controversial hostage crisis in Davao City during the year 1989 put Mayor Duterte’s life on the line as he was held hostage in exchange for the previous hostages by the group of Pugoy.
