Upholding the candidacy for president of Mayor Duterte, Rep. Garcia left the UNA.
In the pursuit to fully back the presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte, Cebu 3rd District Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia temporarily vacated her place in the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
With the common ends decided by her very own family, the wants and cries of her fellow Cebuanos for a presidential candidate coming from Visayas, and the One Cebu advocacy in her city, Garcia made up her mind to back the decision of her local party.
She once shared in a phone interview conducted by Cebu Daily News that she can’t be with UNA if she will be supporting the Davao City mayor. That is the primary reason why she took a leave of absence in the United Nations Alliance (UNA). She didn’t come up with that decision easily and she affirmed that to support Mayor Duterte’s the pure reason and no other.
Garcia cleared that she only temporarily vacating her place in UNA until the national and local elections are done.
Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco, UNA President, was informed of the congresswoman’s decision to leave the alliance for now for a definite purpose.
She assured that Tiangco was with her in the verdict she arrived at – to publicly show her support to Davao Mayor Digong Duterte’s battle for the presidency.
The congresswoman claimed her voice to be important to her people that is why she can’t just be still as her fellow Cebuano’s are looking up to her being their representative in the congress for nine years already.
Further, according to Garcia, Tiangco told her that she can come back any moment of time she wants and that the alliance, UNA, will be glad to welcome her and the One Cebu.
