The first-ever Vice Presidential debate will be shown live through CNN Philippines held today, April 10, 2016 at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Quadricentennial Pavilion gymnasium. The debate dubbed “Pilipinas Debates 2016” is organized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in partnership with Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), CNN Philippines and Business Mirror.

According to CNN’s announcement the debate will be aired live on national TV through Channel 9 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and will be shown live online through the facilities of the official CNN website.
The moderator of the Vice Presidential debates, are journalists Pia Hontiveros and Pinky Webb. Aside from the official debate topics, the pre and post-debate programs are scheduled at 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and will be anchored be Amelyn Veloso.
According to CNN Philippines Vice President for News and Current Affairs Alfonso “Pal” Marquez III confirmed before the said debate that all six candidates confirmed their attendance for the debate: Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Sen. Gringo Honasan, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, Sen. Bongbong Marcos and Camarines Sur third district representative Leni Robredo.
On April 6, the Supreme Court has ordered Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista to allow the debates to be streamed “unaltered” on other websites other than the lead network but “subject to the copyright condition that the source is clearly indicated.” Aside from CNN Philippines, Rappler will be having their own live coverage of the Vice Presidential Debates.
