Mayor Duterte to Appoint Albay Governor to Head NEDA Once Elected President

The country’s most popular presidential candidate on social media, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte of Davao City said that he would appoint Liberal Party stalwarts and Albay Governor Joey Salceda to head the influential National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) if he wins the national elections this coming May 2016.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte visited the province of Albay and made a rally at Tabaco City Plaza where he and his team was overwhelmed with the huge supports of the people of Albay who came out to hear Mayor Duterte’s plans for the Philippines.

Thousands of volunteer supporters of Mayor Duterte came out to show their support to Mayor Duterte who is lagging behind in the latest presidential surveys, but the real survey was when the mayor witness how Bicolanos love him.

Back to Mayor Duterte’s statement to appoint the well-known Albay governor, Gov. Joey Salceda as part of his team in Malacanang, the mayor noted that the governor’s strength is in economic development. Earlier reports also noted that Gov. Salceda warns the Liberal Party that if Mar Roxas losses in Bicol it was because of the inefficiency of DOTC Sec. Jun Abaya.

Mayor Duterte chooses Joey Salceda to head NEDA because of the governor’s track record showing his experience in economic affairs in both government and the private sectors. The governor was the chairman of the House Committee on Economic Affairs when he was the representative of the Third District of Albay.

Mayor Duterte and Gov. Salceda were both members of the House of Representatives in 1998 to 2001. The government was also a prominent investors in various private institutions before turning his focus into public service.
