Mayor Duterte Promise Free Hospital Care Once Elected as President

The tough-talking Mayor Rodrigo Duterte of Davao City who is running for the highest executive position in the country promise during a meeting with Cebuano voters that his government will provide free hospital care among Filipinos once elected as president.

During Thursday’s campaign sortie in Cebu City, Mayor Duterte said that he wins the presidency, he will require all private hospitals to allocate 20 to 30 beds for the poor for free, the hospital bills will be shouldered by the national government.

Aside from the free medical expenses when hospitalized, Mayor Duterte also pledged for a stronger promotion of family planning methods, both natural and artificial. The Davao City mayor also wants to review the government’s health insurance policies and an end to labor contractualization aside from a larger share for the Visayas and Mindanao in the national budget.

Mayor Duterte and his running mate, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano also visited yesterday the Lapu-Lapu Shrine and Danao City, in their first campaign stop in the province of Cebu since the presidential debate last Sunday. The PDP-Laban presidential bet was also surprised with the huge turn out during his visit to Danao despite the fact that his political families in the city were not supporting him.
