Presidential Candidate Jejomar Binay is the Top TV Ad Spender of 2015

Vice President and Presidential candidate Jejomar Binay is considered as the top Television Ad spender for the year 2015 according to the data released by media research firm Nielsen Philippines. According to a monitoring done by the group, the Vice President is the biggest spender between January 1 and Nov. 30, 2015.

Nielsen Philippines revealed that Vice President Jejomar Binay shelled out P595,713,000 for TV ads while coming in second place is independent presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe who spent P448,166,000 in TV ads.

Former Interior Secretary and Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas came in third place as the biggest presidential TV ad spender for 2015 with a total of P424,870,000 while the controversial and considered as the most popular candidate in social media, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte spent a total of P115,423,000.

In the Vice Presidential race, the biggest spender according to Nielsen Philippines is Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, the running-mate of Mayor Duterte with P398,288,000 ad spending followed by Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with P103,429,000.

Rep. Leni Robredo, the running-mate of Mar Roxas only spent P91,602,000 despite the number of ads shown on national TV while Vice Pres. Binay’s running mate Sen. Gregorio Honasan spent a total of P43,580,000.

The only candidate in the Vice Presidential race who spent the lowest is Sen. Francis Escudero who spent only P30,000.

The data gathered by Nielsen is still under question particularly by the groups supporting the candidacy of Sen. Grace Poe, and Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. Some netizens even noted that the three major TV networks in the Philippines is dominated by the advertisements of VP Binay, Sen. Grace Poe, Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo.
