X Factor Winner Cyrus Villanueva Revealed He Was Inspired by His Pinoy Father

The Fil-Aussie winner of The X Factor Australia, Cyrus Villanueva was interviewed via Skype by ABS-CBN and he revealed who inspired him to pursue his singing career. The graphics design student Cyrus Villanueva talked about his Filipino rots in Davao City and how his Filipino father, a full-time musician known as Jo Vill, inspired his love for music.

According to the 19-year-old X Factor Australia winner, one of his earliest memories was bringing his ukelele to his father’s room. He was quoted as saying “He would be rehearsing so I’ll bring my ukelele, stand next to him and strum, and try to copy him,” Cyrus stated.

Cyrus Villanueva also revealed during the interview that he keeps in constant contact with his relatives in the Philippines, that he visited the country three years ago, and he is very much aware about Filipino’s fashion for music as he noted that it is indeed inevitable for him not to fall in love with music.

The X Factor winner was quoted as saying “There was a karaoke machine inside every house. …It was inevitable that I would fall in love with music,” he quipped.

The Filipino-Australian singer also revealed that aside from his father, one of his Filipino idol is recording artist Gabe Bondoc and wish that someday he will meet the singer and maybe perform with him in the Philippines. He also thanked all those Filipinos who kept on supporting him in the X Factor Australia until the very end.
