Ex-Senator Kit Tatad Filed a Disqualification Case Against Sen. Grace Poe

Former lawmaker and renowned senator Francisco “Kit” Tatad filed a disqualification case on Monday against presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe. In a motion filed by the former senator through his lawyer, Kit Tatad said that Sen. Grace Poe cannot run for President next year because she is not a natural born Filipino and because she failed to meet the residency requirement for candidates.

The former senator also denied some rumors that the move is meant to benefit specific candidate, saying he acted on his own because he wants those who committed violations to be answerable.

The disqualification case filed by ex-senator Kit Tatad is the second case against Sen. Grace Poe before the Commission on Elections since last week.

Atty. Estrella Elamparo was the first one who filed a petition to deny due course or cancel the senator’s COC for alleged “material misrepresentation in stating that she is a natural-born Filipino.”

Sen. Grace Poe is currently the front runner in pre-election surveys conducted by both the Pulse Asia and the Social Weather Stations. She is now facing a quo warranto case before the Senate Electoral Tribunal in relation to her winning a Senate seat in the 2013 mid-term elections.
