Philippines Holds Guinness World Record for Largest Coin Mosaic

One of the word’s leading remittance service company, Western Union Philippines was responsible for  new record given to the country. The Philippines is now the holder of the Guinness World Record for the largest coin mosaic.

The achievement was confirmed by Guinness World Records judge Jack Brockbank on Wednesday. According to Guinness the Philippines created the world’s largest coin mosaic measuring 252.78 square meters.

During the announcement Brockbank was quoted as saying “I now confirm that here in the Philippines, Western Union have managed to construct a coin mosaic measuring a grand total of 252.78,” Brockbank said.

The Philippines was able to broke the previous recores of 156 square meters in the United States of America.

Patricia Riingen, Western Union Vice President for Southeast Asia and Oceania Region, said they are happy to have achieved a world record.

The mosaic, which forms the company’s 25th anniversary logo, was formed with P10, P5, P1, 25-centavo and 10-centavo coins. The total value of the coin mosaic is part of the P3.5 million that that the Western Union would be using for its Technology Aiding the Nation’s Youth to Accelerate Growth Program (Tanyag).
