The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) confirmed to the media that the Low Pressure Area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has intensified into a Tropical Depression (international name “Etau).
Although the Tropical Depression Etau, the country’s weather bureau clarified that the Tropical Depression has a slim chance of entering the country as it is moving upward toward Japan.
Based upon the latest forecast of PAGASA, the tropical depression was located at 1,795 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph). It is likely to move north northwest at 15 kph.
PAGASA also noted that once the tropical depression changed its course and enter the Philippine area of responsibility it will be called “Bagyong Jenny.”
The country’s weather bureau is continuing its monitoring of the tropical depression which could affect the present condition of the country.
Aside from the Tropical Depression, PAGASA also noted that southwest monsoon or “habagat” is expected to bring occasional rains over Visayas, Mindanao and the provinces of Mindoro and Palawan.
