Former Manila mayor and now Buhay party-list representative Jose “Lito” Atienza talked about the possibility of now surveys list topper Sen. Grace Poe as the next president if elected in the 2016 polls.
Atienza described how Poe’s presidency would look like if she would run and win the election.
“Pag si Senator Grace Poe ang maging pangulo ay magiging on-the-job training naman ang mangyari sa atin,” Atienza graced an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990AM on Saturday.
The lady senator surged pass Vice President Jejomar Binay in the recent Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, becoming the most preferred possible presidential candidate.
However, with regard to the results of the survey, Atienza said the public should choose someone who has extensive experience in the government.
“Pumili tayo ng malalim na malalim ang karanasan,” he said.
Atienza also advised voters not to be swayed by candidate’s popularity.
Poe was elected as the senator with the most number of votes zooming to 20.3 million votes.
“Kinakabahan ako kung maging President si Grace Poe kasi wala siyang experience,” he emphasized.
The lawmaker also said Poe would not be able to address key issues facing the country today.
“Kapag siya ay naging pangulo saan na naman tayo tatakbo,” Atienza said.
Thus, Atienza advised that Poe should finish her term first as senator.
Purportedly, Atienza would run as senator in the coming elections under Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
Poe, however, have not yet made up her decision to whether run or not.
