Vietnam Eliminates Philippines in SEA Games Women’s Volleyball

The Vietnamese national volleyball team, eliminated the Philippines women’s volleyball team in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Saturday as they suffered one of their biggest lost in the tournament. The Vietnamese powerhouse volleyball squad defeated the Filipinos with straight sets, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23.

The Philippine women’s volleyball team finished the SEA Games in Singapore with a 1-2 win-loss record in the volleyball competition. women’s volleyball team of the Philippines was earlier defeated by Indonesia and bounced back against Malaysia but it was not enough to proceed to the next round after a defeat against Vietnam.

During the game against Vietnam, it was a sorry turn of events of veteran volleyball player Jaja Santiago who punctuate the Filipinas’ inspired run in the third set of the game.

The UAAP veteran, Jaja Santiago’s wide attack gave the Vietnamese the match point and her succeeding attack went straight to the Vietnam defense.

UAAP MVP and Ateneo mainstay, Alyssa Valdez, the Philippines flag carrier in the SEA Games, once again starred for the Philippine national volleyball team, with 11 points while Jaja Santiago added with 10 points. The Vietnamese squad was led by Minh Do who scored with 13 kills.

The 2015 SEA Games is the Philippine women’s team comeback after the won the bronze medal in the 2005 edition of the SEA Games which was held in Bacolod City.
