Following President Benigno Aquino III address to the upper house of parliament in Tokyo on Wednesday, a Chinese Foreign Minister spokesperson said the president should stop his provocation on the talks about territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
Aquino earlier compared China to Nazi Germany in regard to the territorial dispute.
Spokesperson Hua Chunying said in a report Wednesday that she opposes Aquino’s comments on the comparison.
“I’m shocked about such ridiculous and unreasonable comments and strongly oppose them,” Hua said.
The Philippine leader also urged China earlier to reexamine the efforts towards the disputed waters.
Hua said it was the Philippines that conspired with other nations outside the region and put China on a bad rap.
Report also quoted Hua saying that it was the Philippines which “illegally occupied” some of China’s islands in the
West Philippine Sea since the 1970s.
The Chinese official also pointed out in the report that Philippines violated its commitment in the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC).
Hua urged the Philippines to give up the illusion, stop the provocation and return to the process of negotiation and consultation with regards to the territorial row.
