Following the order laid by the Senate on Tuesday for arrest and detention of 14 aides and business associates of Binay within 24 hours, the camp of the Vice President hit back to the Liberal Party (LP).

The aides and associates snubbed hearings into corruption allegations fired against VP Jejomar Binay.

According to the camp of Binay, the LP is “obviously trying to destroy its formidable rival in the 2016 elections.”

The VP’s camp also added that the Senate move was “designed to bring the Vice President down to his knees.”

“It is a shame that this administration has brazenly ignored the rule of law. Private individuals have been insulted and their rights trampled in full view of millions of our people,” said Binay’s spokesman, Rico Quicho.

The arrest order was singed Tuesday by Senate President Franklin Drilon upon recommendation of the Senate blue ribbon committee directing the sergeant at arms to carry out and implement the order within 24 hours.

The order said by ignoring summons, the aides and associates of the VP were charged for the delayed and obstructed inquiry into the alleged P1.6-billion overpricing of the Makati City Hall parking building.
