Earlier, Mary Jane Veloso’s mother drew flak from netizens following her statements against administration not being defended by the lawyer against online media bashers.
Edre Olalia, the lawyer of convicted Veloso, says the family has reason to complain that the government has not done enough following the unprecedented victory from the 11th hour reprieve.
Celia Veloso, being ‘ungrateful’ to the government despite the efforts to save her daughter’s life became the hit of the social media users.
Olalia, who is closely coordinating with Veloso’s Indonesian lawyer, also added that it would be a disservice to say the government was the only crucial factor that led to Veloso’s reprieve.
He notes, however, that the lawyers have yet to receive a copy of the stay of her execution, which would detail the parameters and the timeline.
Meanwhile, the lawyers will hold a teleconference with their Indonesian counterparts this afternoon to discuss their plans.
Meanwhile, the aspect of chain of custody of Veloso’s luggage is crucial in Veloso’s case as Olalia explained.
The preliminary investigation on the case against Veloso’s recruiter is set by the Justice department on Friday.
