Provinces of Sultan Kudarat and Zamboanga Del Norte was jolted by two mild earthquakes early this morning, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs reported that the first 2.7 magnitude earthquake occurred at 3:29 a.m tracing the epicenter at 40 kilometers northwest of Kalamansig in Sultan Kudarat.
Also in Phivolcs’ bulletin, the first quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 31 kilometers.
The other tremor happened at 5:37 a.m with epicenter located at 41 kilometers northwest of Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte with a magnitude of 3.6. The second tremor is also tectonic in origin and had a shallow depth of 14 kilometers.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs said that no aftershocks are expected from the quakes. Phivolcs explained that the country lies in the Pacific Ring of Fire and 20 to 25 earthquakes are most likely occurring everyday—mostly imperceptible.
No casualty and damage was reported after the two tectonic quakes.
