Makati City—Now controversial Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. has filed a complaint-affidavit before the Office of the City Prosecutor last Monday against Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV for the accusations.
The mayor sued the senator for libel after the accusing him and his family of bribing the court of appeals (CA) justices for the issuance of his temporary restraining order (TRO) and a writ of preliminary injunction which stopped the Ombudsman’s office suspension order against him.
Mayor Binay said in his affidavit that the “public and malicious” accusations from the senator includes alleged bribery, graft and corruption, and plunder. The complainant also included news reports when Trillanes exposed and publicly claimed that the mayor bribed the members of the 6th Division of the CA by paying them millions of pesos for the favorable action over the mayor’s TRO.
Binay also stressed pointing Trillanes that his statements are lack of evidence.
One the other hand, Trillanes is not threatened of the affidavit submitted by the mayor. “He can do whatever he wants basta hahabulin ko sila hannggang makulong silang mga kurakot”, Trillanes said.
While Binay is firm that the acts of Trillanes in connection with the libelous statements made against him mean violation of Article 355 in relation to Article 353 of the Revised Penal Code. “They were clearly made with no good intention of justifiable motive”, he also added.
