A summer typhoon will probably hit the Philippines as the international weather agencies reported that a tropical cyclone has formed in the western Pacific and could enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday next week. The tropical storm Bavi is moving west from Marshall Islands toward Guam and the Philippines.
According to the US National Weather Service, the tropical storm Bavi is moving west from the Marshall Islands towards Guam and is expected to hit the Marianas Island by late Sunday or early Monday and continue its westward track.
The US Navy and Air Force’s Joint Typhoon Watch Center (JTWC) has a similar track prediction. Based upon their latest advisory the storm will pack maximum sustained winds of 111 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 139 kph after it hits Guam and enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility by March 17, 2015.
Meanwhile, the country’s weather bureau, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted that once the storm will be locally called Bagyong Betty, based on PAGASA’s list of tropical cyclones names for 2015.
