The song “Mercy” is dedicated to the survivors of the worst typhoon that hits the Philippines during the year 2013, devastating most parts of Eastern Philippines and left behind more than 7,000 lost lives and billions of infrastructure not only in Eastern Visayas but most part of Central Philippines.

The UK-based electronica band Ooberfuse headed by Filipino singer and composer Cherrie Anderson, stated that she is grateful for the Pope’s decision to visit her birthplace and the band showed its gratitude by announcing that their song is free for sharing and distribution for all.

Rather than distributing the song “Mercy” commercially the band decided to give it all for free. The song highlights God’s message of love, grace, and restoration. The band also recorded an acoustic version of the track in Filipino language for their Filipino fans as an encouragement for them to sing the song with them.

The band Ooberfuse has a long history of performing for past pontiffs as they were also chosen to play in the 2011 and 2013 World Youth Day in Spain and Brazil, respectively.
