The city government of Manila already declared suspension of classes in all levels this coming Friday, January 9, 2015, as part of the city’s celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, one of the most popular fiesta celebration in the country held annually at the Quiapo Church.
According to Manila Joseph Estrada in a phone interview with The Star, he noted that the Manila government are now ready for the huge influx of devotees who will attend the fiesta celebration.
The police authorities and various crowd control units will be deployed in the critical areas of the city like the City Hall during the procession of the Black Nazarene.
The former President and current Manila Mayor was quoted as saying “We are mobilizing all hospitals, the entire Manila police force, doctors, City Hall’s engineering department and the garbage department to be in full force during the Feast of the Black Nazarene,” he said.
Mayor Joseph Estraa also noted that he will meet with Monsignor Jose Clemente Ignacio, rector of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in QUiapo, for the preparations for the feast. One of the most well-attended event is the “Traslacion” or the movement of the Black Nazarene which is hed yearly in Manila.
