Bagyong Seniang (international name: Jangmi) has maintained its strength and is now moving closer to the island province of Palawan. According to the latest weather bulletin issued by PAGASA, in its 5:00 AM weather bulletin, Bagyong Seniang was seen 150 km Southwest of Cuyo, Palawan.
The tropical storm packed a maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and with gustiness of up to 80 kph., and expected to move west-southwest at 13 kph.
The weather bureau already lifted some of its public storm warning signals in the Visayas region but Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 is hoisted over Palawan. Residents of this particular area should expect winds of 61-100 kph in at least 24 hours.
PAGASA also noted that Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 is hoisted over the Calamian Group of Islands and Cuyo island in the western parts of the Philippines. These areas should expect winds of 30-60 kph in at least 36 hours.
The country’s weather bureau forecasts that Bagyong Seniang is expected to be 130 kilometers southwest of Puerto Princesa City by tomorrow morning, January 1, 2015.
By Friday morning, January 2, 2014, Bagyong Seniang will be 365 km south of Pagasa Island and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Bagyong Seniang caused widespread flooding in the areas heavily affected by the downpour and the strong winds. Some areas of Southern Cebu are heavily affected while the Province of Bohol already declared a state of calamity due to the devastation brought by the last typhoon to hit the country this year.
I hope visayas and mindanao would be safe by the typhoon.
