Bonifacio & English Only Are Big Winners in the 2014 MMFF Awarding Ceremony

The movie “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” which depicts the life story of the one of the most famous Filipino hero, Andres Bonifacio wins big in the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 Awarding ceremony. Aside from Bonifacio, the romantic comedy movie featuring Derek Ramsay and Jennylyn Mercado were the runaway winners at the 40th MMFF awards ceremony held on Saturday night, December 27, 2014.

The Robin Padilla and Vina Morales top-billed movie, “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” took home the Best Picture Awards along with other awards such as Best Musical Scorer, Best Theme Song, Best Cinematographer, and Best Sound Engineer. The movie also won three special awards, the Youth’s Choice, Best Float, and the Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.

Director Dan Villegas movie titled “English Only, Please,” won the best director awards, while the main casts of the movie, Derek Ramsay and Jennylyn Mercado were awarded with the Best Actor and Best Actress Awards. The movie also won as the 2nd Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Original Story and Best Editor.

Aside from the two movies, garnering with the most number of awards, the movie “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2” was named as 3rd Best Picture, and a total of six other awards, including the Best Supporting roles for Lotlot de Leon and Joey Marquez.

The other movies that scored an award is the movie “My Big Bossing,” the movie managed to score the Best Child Performer award. Meanwhile the movies, “Magnum Muslim .357,” “Feng Shui,” “Shake, Rattle & Roll 14” and the top-grossing movie “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” failed to bag a single award.
