Filipino teen idol and Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla and his mother Karla Estrada, were among those honored as “Bagyong Yolanda Heroes” during an even held at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City, Metro Manila. The two showbiz personality were honored at the “Handumanan: Pasasalamat ng Haiyan,” held last Friday.
The recognition of the mother and son, was given by to all the good samaritans on the aftermath of Bagyong Yolanda. Both Daniel Padilla and Karla Estrada reached out to the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda when it battered some parts of the Visayas last November 8, 2013.
During an interview with the country’s most popular showbiz talk show “The Buzz,” which was aired on Sunday, Daniel Padilla noted that it is overwhelming when other people honor your efforts in helping those affected by the super typhoon.
The mother and son’s effort was recognized when they mounted a free concert in Tacloban last June, as they bring happiness to those who were devastated by super typhoon Yolanda in Leyte, one of the worst hit areas in the Visayas.
According to Daniel Padilla and Karla Estrada they really wanted to entertain the people of Tacloban City, so that they could somehow forget the pain and hardships they were going through.
The project “Handumanan” is part of former Senator and current Yoland czar Panfilo “Ping” Lacson for the national government’s Haiyan Disaster Governance Initiative.
