The veteran action star Robin Padilla defended his nephew, teen actor and heartthrob Daniel Padilla from bashers after an audio clip leaked on social media sites.
In the viral audio clip, Daniel Padilla was heard talking about girl who seemed to excite him after receiving a text message from her. Although he did not name it, netizens speculated that he was referring to his “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” co-star Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

The 19-year-old kapamilya star has since admitted that it was indeed his voice on the 90-second audio clip. Jasmine Curtis-Smith confirmed also that he and Daniel Padilla are exchanging messages.
In an interview with PEP, the award-winning actor said that Daniel Padilla is a victim of an untrusted friend. He added that Kathryn Bernardo and Jasmine Curtis-Smith were also victims of the scandal.
“Kawawa si Daniel. Ang mga biktima kasi dito, para sa akin ha, biktima yung pamangkin ko ng mga pekeng kaibigan. Pangalawa, biktima rin dito si Jasmine. Biktima rin dito si Kathryn, dahil sa isang kaibigang traydor,” he said.
The 44-year-old actor believed that the person who leaked the audio clip should be blamed not Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo or Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
“Sana kung meron tayong dapat sisihin sa nangyaring ito, e, yung traydor na kaibigan. Hindi si Daniel, hindi si Jasmine, hindi si Kathryn. Lalo si Kathryn,” he added.
