Both teams, the Philippines and Iran are undefeated in Group E securing a slot in the Quarterfinals of the Men’s Basketball. The match against Iran is very important for the Philippines, it’s not because that Iran is one of the powerhouse team in Asia, but the Iranians already beaten the Philippines for the past 41 years, a win will surely be a cause to celebrate.
The game between the Philippines and Iran will be held today, Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Hwaseong Sports Complex Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea.
The Gilas Pilipinas squad already secured a win in the Asian Games basketball after they defeated India with the final score at 85-76, the team already enters the Quarterfinals stage.
Iran on its part also defeated the lowly Indian National Basketball Team, which already played a total of six straight games since the start of the Men’s basketball in the Incheon Asian Games.
During the last two meeting of the Gilas Pilipinas and the Iranian basketball squad, the Philippines lost on both occasions, the Filipinos were defeated by the Iranians during the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship with the final score at 85-71, while on their next meeting during the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup, the Persians also defeated Gilas Pilipinas with the final score at 76-55.
