The powerhouse Myanmar football team defeated the country’s pride, Philippine Azkals in the Philippine Football Peace Cup 2014 finals held at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Saturday, September 6, 2014 scoring 3-2, in favor of Myanmar.
Myanmar squad is the first team to make a goal in the Peace Cup 2014 finals after striker Kyaw Ko Ko made a blast. However, they sustained a great blow after their head coach, Raddy Avramovic, was sent outside the field due to complaining the officials excessively.
Philippine Azkals then neutralized the game which lead them to take a revenge over their incompetent performance during the first half. Daisuke Sato make wave after scoring their first goal.
The second half of Peace Cup finals has been rewarding to Philippine Azkals after a Myanmar player was issued with a yellow card because of having a deep contact with Fil-Am player Patrick Reichelt.
Gates of opportunity opened after Philippine Azkals was given a penalty kick which was officiated by Phil Younghusband and as expected the Azkals striker scored which held them to make a 1-point advantage.
However, Myanmar regained stability after Min Min Thu made a goal which tied the match (2-2) and during the 100th minute, Myanmar locked another goal which gave them a 1-point advantage.
Meanwhile, AFC Challenge Cup champion Palestine failed to win the title after placing third.
