Comedian-writer Ramon Bautista was declared as a persona non grata by the City of Davao after his controversial “hipon” joke while he was the guest of the “Kadayawan Festival” in Davao City last week. His joke actually got a lot of feedbacks and been viral in social media.
The term persona non grata has it’s literal meaning as an unwelcome person. Somehow, a certain person called and considered as persona non grata is already prohibited by the city government of that place.
His joke got this way, “Ang daming hipon dito sa Davao. Alright!” This had actually got the attention of everybody especially the city government of Davao. They have actually passed a resolution declaring the comedian as a persona non grata in the city of Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the term “hipon” is a local slang that means a woman who has an ugly face but a sexy body.
With the said resolution, some netizens have reacted and say that the Davao City’s mayor have over-reacted on the past incident. Perhaps, that were just a joke given by the said comedian. According to them, the said comedian have already apologized on his joke and they believe that this is not appropriate.
Actually, Bautista have already asked for an apology for his inappropriate joke last week during the same event as well as through his Twitter Account.
