An ordinary construction worker couldn’t believe that his simple gesture of honesty and acts of kindness will give him an opportunity for a better life as he was rewarded by a certain company who witness how he valued honesty. Construction worker Adones Datalayta became an instant celebrity on social media after his story was featured on GMA7’s “24 Oras.”

The construction worker, Adones Datalayta, made headlines after he returned a lost wallet he found containing P20,000 in a news report posted by “24 Oras” on Tuesday. A few days after the said good news, a New Zealand-based company, Farrell Group Ltd., has expressed interest in hiring him.
Adones Datalayta also passed the interview conducted through Skype by his future employer in New Zealand, the Farrell Group Ltd., whose Finance and Process Manager is a Filipino named Ivan Presquito.
According to Ivan Presquito, Datalayta’s level of honesty are “quite hard to find,” he also adds that the construction worker should serve as “an inspiration to do good.” Presquito’s Kiwi (New Zealand) partner also noted that “This guy’s done a good thing, (and) I think a good thing should come back to him,” he stated.
If all the papers of Adones Datalayta will process, the New Zealand company will should his flight costs to New Zealand, although the construction worker is now facing a challenge in gathering enough funds for his paper work.
Currently the construction worker earned as much as P650 per day or an estimated P13,000 a month but once he will start working in New Zealand he could earn as much as P100,000 per month, excluding allowances and benefits.
