Bagyong Jose Set to Leave The Philippines on Thursday, August 7, 2014

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released their latest weather bulletin on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, the weather bureau noted that “Bagyong Jose” (international name: Halong) is set to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday. Although the weather disturbance will leave the country it will still enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat).

According to the latest weather bulletin of PAGASA issued at around 10:00 AM today, Bagyong Jose was spotted at 830 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. Bagyong Jose was still packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 185 kph. It moves north, towards Southern Japan, at 15 kph.

The monsoon rains caused by Habagat will continue to be felt in most parts of the Ilocos Region and Zambales. PAGASA stated that Metro Manila areas and the rest of Central Luzon will have occasional rains. The rainfall amount of 10 25 millimeters per hour (heavy to intense) is expected within the typhoon’s 650-km diameter.

PAGASA also clarified that Bagyong Jose (Halong) will be 280 kilometers east of Okinawa, Japan, or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, by Thursday morning.

The Philippine weather bureau notified the fishermen and those with small vessels not to venture out into the seaboards of Luzon, until the weather disturbance leave the country.

Aside from the warning given by PAGASA, the agency closely monitors any weather disturbance over the Philippine Sea and beyond the Pacific on a possible typhoon that will follow Bagyong Jose.
