Apolinario Mabini who is known to be the “Brains of Revolution” and a “Sublime Paralytic” celebrates his 150th birthday today July 23, 2014. It was featured in GMA News.
Mabini was a Filipino revolutionary and a lawyer and the same time. He was born on July 23, 1864 in Tanauan, Batangas. He was the 2nd among 8 children of his parents. His parents were considered to be illiterate and only a public vendor. Nevertheless, still he survives poverty that later made him a lawyer.
Because of his wit, he became the chief adviser of Aguinaldo while in Philippine Revolution in 1898. He also had been the Prime Minister of the country until May 1899.
Although he can’t fight in the battlefield during Filipino revolution because of his paralytic legs, Mabini had used his mind and write messages of inspiration to the Filipinos. He want the Filipinos to continue the battle for Philippine Independence.
He was also the man in our 10 peso coin together with Andres Bonifacio.
Though Mabini is not with us today, let’s not forget the sacrifices he made in attaining the freedom that we are enjoying now.
Somehow, he really deserves to be remembered.
What he did in our country should serve as an inspiration for everybody. Even though he was paralyzed with both legs, he still had fought for our freedom. In addition, he had found his way to help his fellow men.
