A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck southwest of the province of Batangas on Wednesday night, June 25, 2014 affecting some Metro Manila and nearby areas. According PHIVOLCS the undersea tremor struck at a depth of 36 kilometers at 27 degrees west of Batangas before 8:00 PM.

PHIVOLCS noted that intensity 3 was felt in Metro Manila areas and they warned that the vicinity of the earthquake’s epicenter should expect some aftershocks. The US Geological Survey recorded the Batangas earthquake at magnitude 5.6 and struck Southern Luzon at around 7:52 PM.
Metro Manila residents living at the areas of Quezon City, Pasay, Makait, Manila and Valenzuela felt the tremors of the latest earthquake that hits some areas of Metro Manila. Tremors were also felt in the province of Cavite, Batangas, and Pampanga.
PHIVOLCS noted the 5.7 earthquake that hits Luzon reached Intensity V affecting Puerto Galera, Batangas City and other parts of Southern Tagalog Region. The government agency also added that there is no immediate damage were recorded.
