According to ABS-CBN News, the 23-year-old former FM disc jockey visited a restricted area of the tourist spot along with her friend when a rock the size of a fist fell on her which hit her head. The incident took place while she’s at the Falls 2 of Lake Sebu’s Seven Falls.
Ayana Grico was immediately rushed in a nearby hospital, however, she was not able to survive. Her uncle, Rogie Navarro couldn’t help but blame the management of Lake Sebu for lack of warning signs in the partially restricted area.
“Kulang sila sa precautionary measures… disgrasya man ang nangyari. Masakit man talaga ang lahat. Nawalan kami. Ang sa amin lang, sana matulungan kami ng provincial government,” Rogie Navarro noted.
South Cotabato Governor Daisy Fuentes promised that Ayana Grico’s family will receive assistance from the government. The area where the incident happened was temporarily closed.
