PhilPop 2014’s Top 12 Finalists Revealed (Video)

The Philippine Popular (PhilPop) Music Foundation has revealed the Top 12 finalists on Thursday May 29, 2014 after a very careful and thorough selection process.

They selected the songs from more than 2, 500 entries and chooses the top 100 and trimmed them down to top 30 and finally made their top 12 which is expected to be the next big hit.

PhilPop is the annual song writing competition which was launched on 2012. It was headed by chairman of TV5 Manny V. Pangilinan and executive director, Maestro Ryan Cayayab.

According to Ryan Cayayab, the finalists this year is composed of different and new music genres. He is also excited to hear different songs and new breed of singers.

“I’m very excited because this batch of songs are again as exciting as different, very, very different. Iba’t ibang tunog na naman ang lumabas,” he said.

7. “No Girlfriend Since Break”

8. “Qrush on You”
Songwriters: Knowa Lazarus and Flava Matiks
Interpreters: Jay-R, Elmo Magalona and Q-York

9. “Salbabida”

10. “The Only One”

11. “Song on a Broken String”

The winners and special awards will be announced on July 26, 2014 at Meralco Theater in Pasig City. The grand winner will be receiving P1 million, the 2nd prize is p500,000 and the third prize is P250,000.
