The daughter of Gary Valenciano, Kiana Valenciano joined her first ever music competition, the PhilPop 2014 as one of the Top 12 finalist. Kiana Valenciano was introduced as the interpreter of the song composed by Mike Villegas.

Gary Valenciano’s daughter, Kiana Valenciano interpreted the song titled “Dear Heart,” one of the finalist in the 2014 PhilPop music competition. According to Kiana she’s just excited to be part of the prestigious competition as she dreamed of following the footsteps of Gary V., considered as one of the country’s pop icon.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Kiana Valenciano was quoted as saying “Actually people are expecting me to feel very pressured and all that but it being my first competition, sobrang ganda nung song with such an amazing composer. Parang winning is the least of my problems na. The whole experience in itself, it’s like nanalo na din ako,” Kiana said.
Kiana Valenciano also shared that her parents were both there to help and support her endeavor. According to Kiana her dad, Gary V helped her vocally, while her lovely mother, Angeli Pangilinan, is her manager.
The younger Valenciano stated that “They are just there for me. My dad is helping me vocally, my mom is my manager. They are really both there, they are like my pillars of strength,” she said.
When Kiana was asked if the PhilPop competition will be the start of her singing career she just replied with the following: “Not sure about that but I said earlier that music is in my blood, it’s part of who I am. So sooner or later it will come. I am not actually sure kung right after this start na agad but it will come, it will come.” she said.
The Philippine Popular Music Festival also known as PhilPop is an annual songwriting competition organized by the Philpop MusicFest Foundation and was launched during the year 2012. The PhilPop 2014 winners will be announced this coming July 26, 2014 at the Meralco Theater in Pasig City.
