The Binibining Pilipinas 2014 national pageant added another distinction on their list of crowns as Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI), announced that a new title, the Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental will be added to four titles given to four deserving winners of the country’s most popular beauty pageant.
Aside from the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, Bb. Pilipinas-International, Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational and Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism, a fifth title will be added to top honorees, the Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental.
The new title will be up for grab in the upcoming coronation night which will determine the deserving winners of the beauty pageant that showcased 40 lovely hopefuls of Bb. Pilipinas crowns.
The announcement of the inclusion of Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental was made by Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta, head of BPCI during an event hosted by the Bb. Pilipinas organization.
The head of Bb. Pilipinas has high hopes that the Philippines will bag its third Miss Universe title this 2014, the first time that the Philippines won the Miss Universe crown was way back the year 1969 and 1973 courtesy of Miss Gloria Diaz and Margarita Moran.
The Philippines can boast of five Miss International crowns already since the inception of Bb. Pilipinas who picked the country’s representative to Miss International. Winners of Miss International representing the Philippines were Gemma Cruz Araneta in 1965, Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Precious Lara Quigaman in 2005 and Bea Rose Santiago in 2013.
The Bb. Pilipinas winners had already achieved a remarkable feat in the global beauty pageants as the country made a consistent Top 5 Finalists in the Miss Universe beauty pageant. During the last four years, the Philippines finished fourth last 2010 featuring Venus Raj, followed by third runner-up finish of Shamcey Supsup in 2011, first runner-up of Janine Tugonon in 2012 and the last but not the least, Ariella Arida who was declared as third runner-up last Miss Universe 2013.
Meanwhile the coronation night of the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 will be held at the historic Smart Araneta Colisem this coming March 30 and will be aired live through the facilities of ABS-CBN. The newly added title, Bb. Pilinas-Intercontinental will represent the Philippines in the Miss Intercontinental which will be held in Europe this year.
