“I’m in the process of organizing a nationwide commercial league,” said Lipa, who did not go into other specifics details of the venture.

The former national team coach revealed that the league he has been working will have a same format with the defunct Metro Manila Basketball league, which opened shop from 1998 to 2002 but not a professional one.

Lipa, who clarified that this league won’t contend with the PBA and PBA D-league, said that he already talked with interested parties for their possible participation.

“May mga teams that showed a lot of interest, both provincial and in the NCR. I think we will have a more solid development before the end of the month,” said Lipa, who added that private companies are also welcome to join in the competition.

The former UP mentor is reportedly targeting the ABS-CBN as the official coveror of this brand new league, which might start on July, 2014. The new league to be organized by Coach Joe Lipa could be a good chance for those who failed to join the PBA.
