Though, the Red lions failed to secure Arvin Tolentino, who opted to play for Ateneo this year, the four-peat champion squad still got other key players of San Beda Red cubs program.
The news was confirmed by head coach Boyet Fernandez.
“As of now, we took two Red Cubs who committed to us in Javee Mocon and RanbillTongco,” Fernandez said. (Statement from Spin.ph)
San Beda mentor believes Javee Mocon, who averaged 10.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in the juniors’ ranks will be able to fill up the void left by Rome Dela Rosa at the small forward position though the youngster is a natural power forward.
“Javee will really fill up the spot which Rome left behind. Javee is playing four in the juniors but with his talent and attitude, I think he will have no problem adjusting to the three,” said Fernandez.
Guard Tongco on the other hand will be a project for the team as the Red Cub point guard is set to play along with Baser Amer and other backcourt guys in the line up according to Fernandez.
The San Beda Red Lions also losses one of their key junior player Rev Diputado who decided to transfer to the National University in the upcoming season of the UAAP.
