Charice Insulted by American Singer Rex Smith in Cebu

International singing sensation Charice Pempengco or simply Charice was insulted by international hitmaker and American singer Rex Smith during a show’s rehearsal in Cebu City.

The manager of Charice, Glenn Aldueza, revealed during an interview with ABS-CBN that the “Pyramid” singer was doing her sound check when the incident happened.

Glenn Aldueza narrated that the foreigner came up to the stage and then pointed his finger to Charice and told the singer to stop what she was doing.

Charice Manager was quoted as saying “We went there on time (2 p.m.) and she’s doing the sound check with the musical director. Then suddenly a foreigner came up to the stage and then he pointed his finger to Charice and told Charice, ‘Can you please stop what you are doing.’ Then nakipag-away si Rex Smith doon sa musical director kasi sabi ng musical director, ‘Can’t you see somebody is rehearsing?'” Aldueza stated.

The foreigner who was identified as American singer Rex Smith, an international balladeer who popularized the songs such as “Simply Jessie” and “You Take My Breath Away” during the 1970’s.

Although manager of Charice did not elaborate further about the location of the hotel wherein Charice was insulted, the singer was really shock with the behavior of the popular American songwriter.

Charice Manager also revealed that someone from the team of Ovation Productions, who brought Rex Smith to the Philippines, apologized to them, saying that the American singer will personally say sorry to Charice but the apology never happen.

According to some sources from Cebu City, Rex Smith held a Valentines Benefit Concert on Monday, February 10, 2014 at around 8:00 PM at Victoria Hall in Cebu Parklane International Hotel (CPIH), in Cebu City.

The Rex Smith concert was dubbed as “Lover Over Load 2” a sequel of John Ford Coley’s Cebu+Bohol benefit concert last October 2013, for the earthquake victim. The benefit concert of Rex Smith is for the benefits of the super typhoon Haiyan victims.
