Obama’s Selfie with Cameron & Thorning at Mandela’s Memorial Service Went Viral

A selfie photo of US President Barrack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and Denmark’s Prime Minister Hell Thorning Schmidt during the funeral of Nelson Mandela at Johannesburg, South Africa went viral after it was first posted by AFP Photographer Roberto Schmidt.

The US President Barrack Obama attends the Nelson Mandela’s memorial service on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, he delivered a stirring eulogy during the event but what captured the netizens is his selfie with two other world leaders.

The selfie of the three world leaders was captured by AFP photographer Roberto Schmidt, when Denmark’s Helle Thorning can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron.

The memorial service of the former South African President was held at the Soweto’s World Cup Stadium. Aside from the three leaders, the wife of the Pres. Obama was also seen him but she does not join in with lightheartedness, keeping her eyes on the podium where world leaders gathered paying tribute to Nelson Mandela.

The “Obama Selfie” was captured by international news media organizations and various blogs wrote an article about the photo. Social media news site and world famous blogs such as Mashable, Huffington Post and international news network such as CNN and Washington Post posted an article about the selfie.
