Samsung Donates $500,000 to Sagip Kapamilya for Yolanda Victims

South Korea’s largest electronics company, Samsung donated $500,000 or an equivalent of more than P21 million to Sagip Kapamilya for the relief and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by super typhoon Yolanda.

During the ABS-CBN program KrisTV on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, Samsung Philippines brand amb(–foul word(s) removed–)adors Sam Milby and Bianca Gonzales gave the check worth $500,000 to Sagip Kapamilya. Also present during the giving of check were officials from Samsung Philippines.

Yesterday, November 12, 2013, Samsung Group said it will offer $1 million (around P44 million) in aid to the Philippines especially in the typhoon ravaged provinces hit by Yolanda.

According to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, the Samsung Group is making the donation through the Red Cross and World Vision Philippines. As donations pour out to Sagip Kapamilya of ABS-CBN, it is expected that the rest of the $500,000 will be given to the two agencies.

Aside from the financial aid given to volunteer organizations in the country, the Samsung Electronics Philippine Corporation is also sending volunteer emergency team to help in the relief efforts in areas heavily affected by the typhoon.

The Samsung team is composed of 20 members who will provide free repair of home appliances. The country has been hit hard by typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), considered as one of the strongest on record and fourth strongest typhoon on record worldwide.
