Marc Pingris Awarded with PBA Governors Cup Finals MVP

The ever-reliable Marc Pingris of the San Mig Coffee Mixers was awarded with the PBA Governor’s Cup Finals MVP after his team clinched the deciding Game 7 against the Petron Blaze Boosters on Friday night, October 25, 2013.

Marc Pingris played with his best performance in the San Mig vs. Petron Finals series after he topscored for his team with 19 points 9 points, 17 boards, two (–foul word(s) removed–)ists, and five blocks, including the deciding defensive stop against Petron’s import Elijah Millsap in the final few seconds of the game.

The San Mig Coffee Mixers took home the PLDT Telpad Governor’s Cup title after defeating the Petron Blaze Boosters with the final score at 87-77 in front of the 21,319 fans watching live in one of the most attended game at the Araneta Coliseum.

The “Pinoy Sakuragi” Marc Pingris averaged with 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3 (–foul word(s) removed–)ists, and 1.5 blocks in the championship series but in Game 7 he played liked a true hero for San Mig as what he has previously done with Gilas Pilipinas during the FIBA Asia Championship.

During an interview Marc Pingris thanks the Lord for the blessings that he and his team received. The 32-year-old power forward was quoted as saying that, “Nagpapasalamat ako kay Lord. Binigay namin lahat, win or lose,” Pingris stated. He added further that, “Iniisip ko lang, laro lang talaga eh. Hindi ko na inisip yung sakit (ng katawan),” Marc said.

Aside from bagging the Finals MVP plum, Pingris was also honored as a member of the All-Defensive Team and the 2013 PBA Mythical Second team, not to mention his silver medal finished in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships.
