The UAAP Season 76 Basketball Most Valuable Player, Terrence Romeo decided to apply for the PBA Rookie Draft which will be held this coming November 3, 2013. The FEU Tamaraws decided to join the long lists of amateurs who revealed their intentions to join the professional league.
Despite the fact that he promised the FEU community that he will return to the team for the next year’s UAAP Season, Romeo decided to try his luck in the PBA as he beat Friday’s deadline for the PBA rookie draft.
The Far Eastern University Tamaraws ended their run in the UAAP Season 76 failing to enter the finals although they dominated the first round of the tournament with a 7-0 win-loss card. As news of Terrence Romeo came out about his intentions of joining the PBA, his supporters took to social media and reminded their idols of his promise to return to the Tamaraws.
FEU Tamaraws coach Nash Racela answered and asked the FEU community to support Romeo, as well as RR Garcia, who also filed for the PBA rookie draft this year. Aside from Racela the UAAP also sent its message of support not only to the two Tamaraws but to the rest of the UAAP players who decided to join the PBA rookie draft.
Other UAAP stars who filed for this year’s rookie draft includes former Ateneo stalwart Nico Salva, Justin Chua and Greg Slaughter, UST’s Jeric Fortuna, and from the NCAA were Ian Sangalang and Raymond Almazan.
According to the pBA, a total of 84 applicants are expected to make the final list of rookie draftees, the complete list will be released on October 30, 2013. PBA insiders also noted that there are two teams who are looking forward for the service of Terrence Romeo, the Barako Bull and GlobalPort Batang Pier.
