October 28 Declared as Special Non-Working Holiday for Brgy. and SK Elections

The October 28, 2013, Monday, was already declared by Malacanang as a Special Non-Working Holiday to give way to the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections nationwide.

Based upon Proclamation 656 provides, “it is important to give the people the fullest opportunity to participate in the said elections and exercise their right to vote.”

The President of the Philippines, Pres. Benigno Aquino III has yet to sign a bill postponing the Sangguniang Kabataan elections. Based upon COMELEC’s Calendar of Events, from September 28, up to November 12, 2013, the days were considered as Election Period for the 2013 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

The campaign period of the Brgy. and SK Elections will start on October 18, 2013 until October 26, 2013 as per COMELEC Resolution No. 9749.
