For the very first time in the history of the Philippine Congress, a Congressman made a proposal to his girlfriend during the session. Congressman Ashley “Ace” Acedillo made a wedding proposal to his girlfriend Maria Pax Rosario Ocampo.

The love story of a certain Congressman from Magdalo unfolds with the apparent connivance of House Speaker Sonny Belmonte and House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II and his colleagues, Rep. Acedillo rose on a matter of personal privilege and said he wants to propound one question.
Rep. Ashley Acedillo asked the majority leader to recognize Maria Pax Rosario Ocampo his girlfriend who seated at the VIP gallery. Rep. Gonzales then recognized Ocampo, moved to suspend the session, the 2014 national budget deliberations, to allow Ocampo to go to the front of the session.
As the girlfriend of Cong. Acedillo approached congressmen lined up the center aisle, Acedillo met Ocampon in front with flowers and asked her girlfriend, “Will you please do me the honor? Please be my wife. Please put it on record.”
Cong. Acedillo then said that her girlfriend said “Yes,” House Speaker Belmonte promptly congratulated the couple, who ascended the rostrum to greet him. Belmonte then added that she looks forward to the wedding.
